Now open in La Conner! 617 Morris Street.
Our opening party was fun and well attended by friends, family and neighbors. Come check us out and tell us what kind of classes you might like to take here, or teach here!
Bookbinding kits and supplies are for sale, along with my hand-printed papers and hand-stitched journals, plus fantastic and original local book, paper and ink art. Stay tuned for a complete list of artists, which will always be changing. A newsletter is in the works and will feature everyone, eventually.
One thing that is making me very happy is my helper Jenny Gottwald. She jumped on board as a supporter at the very beginning and has painted walls, helped hang signs, clued me in to the Skagit art scene and majorly helped with publicity and artist recruitment/networking. She has prints, handmade paper and book art here in the shop and will be here when I can’t be. Thank you Jenny!
One more thing that is making me very happy is how many of our visitors are my actual neighbors. I’d like to bring something to this town that the residents value, rather than catering to tourists, so I guess we’re on a good track there. This is a quieter side of town (as opposed to jam-packed First St.), so we have less foot traffic, but so far the quality of interactions I’m having more than makes up for that. Sundays have been so quiet, I’m already considering changing my hours, but this could be a great day to host classes.
All is well here at the mouth of the Skagit River. I’m here working in my studio even when we’re not officially open. Tulips are starting to pop and swans are still around. If you are in the area, please stop by anytime!
