This small illuminated book was drawn by hand with home-made black walnut ink and a dip pen, then colored with colored pencil. There are only 12 pages, though, just some random quotes about bees in Latin and English. The paper is Stonehenge 'fawn', my favorite for pen and ink work, as I draw with pencil, then ink, then do a lot of erasing. This paper teliably shows no wear from my brutality.
The cover is wasp nest paper in a case-bound style, and a brown goatskin spine with false bands and leather endbands.
I've had this wasp paper around my studio for a few years, and it was nice to finally bring it into the daylight. It's astoundingly beautiful!
The inside endpapers are my own block-prints on Lokta paper. I’m saving up a stash of bee paper in high hopes that I’ll be able to work with it again.
