Hand-painted Signs of Lopez Island

Scroll down to content

Hand painted signs of Lopez Island’s past. Some of these businesses don’t exist anymore, and some of them do but their signs have worn out by now. Some of them are still around and look pretty durn good! I started doing these by accident in about 1999, with no real clue about what I was doing. One thing I’ve learned for sure; use quality wood as a base, either exterior plywood, marine plywood or MDO, and surface prep is KEY. I’ve gone through a couple of laptops, and I can’t get my work off the most recent one, so my portfolio is sort of random here. A full history can be seen at islandsignpainter.blogspot.com
